Lecture 1. General characteristics of physical-chemical methods of analysis

Features of the application of physical - chemical methods of analysis . Classification of physical - chemical methods of analysis . Methods of operations and settlement analysis.

Lecture 2. Main characteristics of the optical assays

The light absorption and law Bouguer-Lambert-Beer. Main characteristics of the electromagnetic radiation. The basic law of photometry - the law of Bouguer-Lambert-Beer. The absorption spectra. The main instrument components for photometric analysis.

Lecture 3. Optical methods of analysis

General characteristic spectral instruments. Fundamentals of emission spectroscopy. Main components of the spectral instruments. Atomic absorption analysis. Luminescent analysis.

Lecture 4. Electrochemical methods of analysis (I)

Characterization of electrochemical analysis methods. Electrodes indicator. The electrochemical cell. Indicator electrode in acid-base reactions, precipitation reactions, oxidation-reduction.

Lecture 5. Electrochemical methods of analysis (II)

Conductometry and potentiometers. Polarography, amperometry and coulometry. Voltammetry. The line inversion voltammetry, amperometric titration. direct and differential polarography method. Amperometric titration.

Lecture 6.Chromatographic analysis

General characteristics. Paper and thin layer chromatography. Mechanism of distribution. General characteristics. Gas-solid and gas-liquid chromatography. Sorbents, carriers and solvents used in chromatography. Methods for the preparation and analysis of chromatograms in various kinds of chromatography. Instruments for gas chromatography.

Lecture 7. Kinetic methods of analysis

Characteristics of kinetic methods of analysis. Influence of the concentration of the reactants in the rate of chemical reaction. Catalytic reaction for determining the concentration of catalyst. The role of catalysts in the application of kinetic methods. Sensitivity of catalytic reactions. The indicator reaction and the indicator substance.

Annotated Plan of the Course


Topic 1. Coagulation and flocculation methods for the purification of wastewater

The natural polymer flocculants for wastewater treatment. Studying the properties of the polymer flocculants. The complex coagulants based on chitosan for use in water treatment processes. The use of chitosan and its derivatives to the coagulation-flocculation process for the removal of cationic and anionic species from water. The coagulation method for the purification of textile industry wastewater. The use of coagulation-flocculation for removing dyes from wastewater.

Topic 2. The use of ozonation for wastewater treatment. Study of oxidative properties of ozone.

Development of technologies in wastewater treatment from organic pollutants via chemical destruction under the influence of a strong oxidant. Ozonation for the treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater.

Topic 3. Study and processing of waste of biotechnological production

Study biotechnological process producing citric acid. Study of waste  biotechnological production of citric acid. Technology for producing chitin-containing complexes and chitosan from the filamentous fungus Aspergillus niger. Determination of the molecular weight and degree of deacetylation of chitosan. Study of physico-chemical properties of films based on chitosan. Production and use of fertilizers based on chitin-containing complexes.

Topic 4. Using reverse osmosis technology to purify drinking water.

Design and work back-osmotic and ultrafiltration devices. Investigation of the process of demineralization of waters of different origins. Using baromembrane processes in water treatment technologies.

Topic 5. Volume coagulation in wastewater treatment possesses.

Reducing the toxicity of wastewater through the application of cavitation processes that provide aggregation and sedimentation of suspended solids without adding chemicals.

Topic 6. The use of unipolar electrochemical activation of water purification (UEA)

Theoretical basis of the process. Design and installation work of (UEA). Investigation of demineralization disinfection for cleaning surface water.

Topic 7. Sandy and ion-exchange filters of continuous action (FCA).

Comparative characteristics of the filtration process. Investigation of reducing the concentration of iron ions, calcium and magnesium in the FCA.

Topic 8. Application of Cavitation systems for wastewater treatment.

The study of work units for cavitation. Intensification of processes of coagulation and flocculation.

Topic 9. Intensification of processes of nitrification and denitrification.

Study hydrazine synthesis processes under atmospheric pressure.

Topic 10. The electrochemical method of modifying natural adsorbents.

The study of the adsorption process of silver ions in the bentonite clays.
